This Work Takes a Community

Wildfire protection isn’t something any one person or agency can do alone. It takes neighbors helping neighbors — people who show up, speak up, and take action together. Whether you have an afternoon or a long-term commitment to give, there’s a place for you.

Give Your Time

Volunteer with SPAWP

Our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do. From community slash pile days to event logistics, from distributing preparedness materials to helping with property assessments — every hour you give makes our region safer.

You don’t need firefighting experience or specialized training. You just need to care about this place and the people who live here.

What volunteers do:
Help at community slash pile collection and burn days
Assist with outreach events, workshops, and tabling
Distribute wildfire preparedness materials to neighborhoods
Support Ambassadors with coordination and logistics
Contribute professional skills (photography, writing, translation, tech)
⏱ Time Commitment
Totally flexible. Some volunteers help at a single event each year. Others are involved monthly. You set your own pace.

Lead in your Neighborhood

Become a Neighborhood Ambassador

The Neighborhood Ambassador Program is SPAWP’s community-driven approach to wildfire preparedness. Ambassadors are local residents who serve as the go-to person in their neighborhood — connecting people with resources, organizing community activities, and building the relationships that make a real difference when it counts.

What Ambassadors do:

Serve as a neighborhood point of contact
Connect neighbors with SPAWP resources
Share info during fire season
Organize local events and slash days
Coordinate with fire departments
Promote defensible space efforts
No experience needed. SPAWP provides all training, materials, and ongoing support. You just need enthusiasm and a willingness to help.
