Emergency Alerts

The First Step Is Signing Up

Emergency alert systems are your county’s official way of notifying you when a wildfire threatens your area. They’re free, fast, and only work if you’re registered. Find your county below and sign up today.

⚠️ A couple of things worth knowing: Emergency alert systems change more often than you might think. Several counties in our region have switched platforms in recent years, and when that happens, your old registration may not carry over to the new system. We recommend signing up even if you think you're already registered, and checking back at least once a year to make sure your county's information hasn't changed. If you own property in multiple counties, or have moved recently, be sure to register in each county separately.

Understanding Alert Levels

Here's What to Do When You Get an Alert

Regardless of the alert level, these steps apply any time you receive an emergency notification:

Check the official source Follow the link or instructions in the alert to get full details from your county's emergency management office — not social media.
Know your route Identify your primary and backup evacuation routes before you need them.
Have your Go Bag ready Keep it somewhere easy to grab — by the door, in your car, or in the garage.
Don't wait to feel sure If you feel unsafe at any point, don't wait for an official order. Leave early.
ℹ️

Alert levels and what they mean vary by county. Each of the seven counties SPAWP serves uses its own emergency notification system with its own terminology. For definitions specific to your area, visit your county's emergency management website using the links in the table above.
